Topic: Iphone

Hi, Im currently developing a app for the Iphone, however being from England i have not yet had the chance to grab one. My question is, is there a program (mac compatible) or a website that will show what my site would look like on and iphone?

Thanks

Red

Re: Iphone

You could try this:

http://testiphone.com/

I don't have an iPhone, nor have I really used that site, I just remember seeing the link and found it.

Re: Iphone

Thanks! thats exactly what I was looking for

Re: Iphone

Just download Safari 3, and make the screen really small.

I wrote a javascript that resized it to the correct screen port size.

Also, there's "iPhoney" on OS X.

Re: Iphone

Or even better, you can use iPhoney (for OSX). Download it at: http://s3.amazonaws.com/marketcircle/iPhoney_1.2.zip

I keep meaning to donwload it myself, and give it a try.

Re: Iphone

For a project I am working on, I use the following in my layout _footer partial. It gives me two small links at the bottom of the window that when clicked, open up either a portrait or landscape style browser window with a fixed small size resembling a mobile device. Note the "m." in the URL for the window.open as I use a "m." domain prefix to denote the mobile version of the site. You may have a different way of indicating that you want the 'mobile' version of your site.

<% if ENV["RAILS_ENV"] == "development" -%>
<script>
function mobilePortraitPopup()
{
window.open('<%= request.protocol + "m." + request.host_with_port %>', 'Mobile Portrait', 'menubar=no,scrollbars=yes,width=320,height=480,top=50,left=300,scrolling=yes,toolbar=yes,resizable=no')
}
function mobileLandscapePopup()
{
window.open('<%= request.protocol + "m." + request.host_with_port %>', 'Mobile Lanscape', 'menubar=no,scrollbars=yes,width=480,height=320,top=80,left=330,scrolling=yes,toolbar=yes,resizable=no')
}
</script>
<p class="small quiet">
<a href="javascript:mobilePortraitPopup('')">mobile portrait</a> |
<a href="javascript:mobileLandscapePopup('')">mobile landscape</a>
</p>
<% end -%>

Re: Iphone

For my iphone it is really helpful.
Thanks for shearing the site.

Re: Iphone

You can just install Xcode 3 or 4 and use iPhone or iPad emulator with excellent working native Safari. It looks like this:

Re: Iphone

When you use the calendar app on your iPhone, you might want to sync your schedule with the iCal calendar application on your Mac. For example, you could add some appointments to iCal on your Mac at night, and want to make sure they will be on your iPhone when you are on the road the next day. Or, you could change the time for a meeting on your iPhone’s calendar while at work, and you want this change to be reflected on your computer’s calendar kommunikation.
