Topic: The Sapphire Language
If you are interested in the development of programming languages, you may be interested to keep an eye on the SapphireSteel Software blog. We've just announced a project which has been in the planning for some time - it's a new Object Oriented language named Sapphire. It will have a Ruby-like syntax but it isn't Ruby. It is actually going to be closer in spirit (if not in syntax) to Smalltalk. Basic info here: http://www.sapphiresteel.com/The-Sapphire-Language
We'll be writing in a fair bit of technical detail about both the design and the implementation of the language in the months ahead. While Sapphire could, in principle, be implemented on any platform, our own implementation will be on the DLR (the .NET Dynamic Language Runtime) and we'll also be explaining how to create a language (one of your own, maybe?) for the DLR.
