Topic: Distrubuted asset hosts

Not sure if this is the right forum but it seemed like it.

I read up on the (relatively) new distributed asset hosts configuration and decided to implement it on one of my test sites.

I've got the following in my environments/production.rb:

config.action_controller.asset_host = "http://assets%d.mysite.com"

This works just fine, except it isn't using all the hosts available. For example, take a page with 3 javascript_include_tag's and 1 stylesheet_link_tag. It will generate output like so:

<link href="http://assets2.mysite.com/stylesheets/countdown.css?1214003368" media="screen" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
<script src="http://assets2.mysite.com/javascripts/realtime.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="http://assets3.mysite.com/javascripts/countdown.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="http://assets2.mysite.com/javascripts/startit.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

This doesn't seem to be using the distributed hosts very well, I would have thought it would use them in a round-robin or similar layout.

Any tips or comments welcomed.

Thanks

Matt

Re: Distrubuted asset hosts

Sorry about hijacking this thread, but Im planning on using distributed asset hosts too, but my question is what about all the urls directing to images in your CSS files?

How would one handle that? do some sort of manual "asset distribution" by manually setting the urls to random asset addresses?
