Topic: how to treat PK as a string?

I have a table which has Primary Key being set as a string.
In this case I cannot use a sequence to generate IDs.

How do I tell rails to ignore the sequence itself?

will set_sequence_name= nil in my model make this work?

Re: how to treat PK as a string?

I read through the rails recipes, it does teach you how to configure rails for legacy, but it still assumes the id to be a int, lot of legacy tables deal with ID as plain unique text and I am stuck with my app right now

any help is appreciated

Thanks

Thanks

Re: how to treat PK as a string?

Based on my learnings so far, I have concluded there should some column that can be mocked as an id column, though it really didnt mean its use.
so, I have stuck a new col named id in my table..rest works!
