Re: Post your Rails site/app here

Site: BuzzFever.com
Purpose: Community site for tracking product buzz.  Users submit and decide which products are buzz-worthy.

Cool Features:
Product images can be pulled in from the Amazon product database (thanks to Ruby/Amazon) or can be uploaded.

Each product features BuzzLinks, which are links to other sites referencing the product (e.g., official product site, reviews, blog articles, etc.)

User profiles allow users to track what they've buzzed, submitted, and commented on.

The Top Products section enables very granular tracking of buzzes per time period, so you can answer questions like "What were the most buzzed products on Dec. 22nd, 2006?" or "Most buzzed for the month of December?".

My hope with BuzzFever is to use the collective power of the internet to get a pulse on what products are creating buzz in the market.  I also hope the "little guys" out there with really great products but not much marketing power will be able to compete with the "big guys" on BuzzFever's playing field.

Read more about it on the official blog: http://blog.buzzfever.com/

Thanks,

Curtis Summers
BuzzFever.com creator

URL: http://memake.net
Purpose: Site for trading recipes and guides on how to make things. Instead of just text descriptions, you can submit pictures to illustrate the steps as well. Currently holds a few cooking recipes, but could be used for other guides, for example Arts and Crafts.

Cheers, GWS was my original inspiration ;-) (For those not in the know, it's a cooking sub forum on http://forums.somethingawful.com)

Re: Post your Rails site/app here

URL: http://www.fitaculous.com
Purpose: Think of it as a cross between Weight Watchers and MySpace. It's a social networking health site. People keep track of their workouts, daily diet, and measure their progress with "weigh-ins". And since it's social based, people can get inspiration from their friends, and every can help everyone else stay on track with their goals.

It's currently in beta, but you can see the site and poke around if you want. If anyone is curious enough to want to join the beta, just let me know either here or at the site.

Re: Post your Rails site/app here

URL: http://thesavageland.org
Purpose: Personal blog.  The blog is actually going to be a foundation for a music review site I'm working on.  It's going to focus on bands on small labels where you'd have to mail order to get copies.  All reviews are based on a strict format requiring many specific databased fields to allow for some unique searching and sorting capabilities.

My first rails project and my intro to object oriented programming!

Purpose: a bit of an experiment where people can quickly and easily take and make polls. No registration, completely anonymous. The anonymous factor is hopefully encouraging people to ask unusual/interesting questions.

I'm in the process of making it so you can comment on polls, that should increase the site's interesting factor a bit.

developer: me! smile this was my simple way to introduce myself to rails.

Had exactly the same idea myself a few years back!

Nice to see it in practice, will have a good look about it myself and probably add a few votes and polls myself smile

I can't stop thinking about Rails. Can't sleep, can't eat, can't concentrate on work. It must be love.

URL: http://brewcontrol.com
Purpose: Management application for Breweries and Brewpubs.  Helps them keep all of their inventories (ingredients, beer, materials, products, etc.) in check, tracks recipes, batches, etc.  Automatically calculates tedious tax forms and operations reports at the federal and state level.

Re: Post your Rails site/app here

URL: http://contrastandcompare.com
PURPOSE: place for people to post music they like along with a nice review and download link.
They are not required to post a download link and a buy link is always the first they see.

Re: Post your Rails site/app here

URL: http://www.good-tutorials.com
Purpose: To list good tutorials all in one place. Traditionally a Photoshop-centric site, but now with the new version on RoR, I'm expanding to other fun tutorials.

Good-Tutorials. Now with tutorials for Ruby and for Rails.

Re: Post your Rails site/app here

URL: http://www.escores.ca - it is still a work in progress.
Purpose: The purpose of this site is two-fold. One-to develop a site using rails and to learn by doing. Two-to set-up a site where I can do fundraising for my grad and have people submit there selections for a hockey pool online and track how they are doing in the hockey pool.
Developers: Me and my Instructor/Employer.

URL: http://www.fitaculous.com/
Purpose: a social networking site with a fitness and diet theme to it. Keep track of your diet and workouts and watch your friends do the same, give each other inspiration and ideas.

I already submitted this same site in this thread, but I completely redid the site and it's now much better. And yet there is still a lot of room for improvement, even with rails making a webapp is a lot of work smile

[b]DotMSG.Com[b]
DotMSG.Com Instant Temporary/Disposable Email Address
http://www.dotmsg.com/
This is my second application built on Ruby On Rails, as soon as you hit the page, you have an instantly generated email address, and it i already copied to you clipboard. From there, you can just go to the Web Site/Application and paste the email address, to see the received emails you just go check them in the same page, not a single click!. Hope it's useful for you people.

Site in my signature.  Started as a learning/exploration thing, but really blew up as I got into it.  Rails is highly addictive!

A simple portfolio page of my work/projects/designs that I will be updating over the weeks.

Most of my projects have been under contracts, so nothing of MINE is up there. I'm going to use this site for personal projects that I put up; which are in the plans, so stay tuned!
