Topic: Changing the URL structure for RESTful interfaces

Hi,

I'm new to Rails, so my apologies if this is a dumb question (or the wrong place to post).  I'm working on a Ruby on Rails project to replace an existing system, this has a RESTful interface which currently supports URLs such as :

https://server/somepath/things

for lists of things and

https://server/somepath/things('thingkey')

to get a particular 'thing'.

My team leader (who's also new to Rails, but has years of experience with Microsoft) has told me that it would be really difficult to do this in Rails, and we should stick with the default which would be:

https://server/somepath/things/thingkey

This is fine, apart from the fact that we also have a load of client software which expects the first type of URL, so we're going to have to rewrite that too.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can change the URL structure or map it somehow in Rails?

Thanks for any help!

Amy
