Topic: Rails on Ubuntu

Hi,

I've just ported my laptop over to Ubuntu 6.10 - can anybody provide me with a list/link that allows me to get Rails working, I intend to install MYSQL as the database and develop locally.

Also can anyone provide a list of some half-decent editors that support Ruby/Rails working on Ubuntu?

Any help is appreciated,

Thanks in advance,

Steve.

Re: Rails on Ubuntu

This is one site i refer to when i have to install rails. It works perfectly

you may also want to check these other sources

http://blog.dnite.org/2006/10/24/ruby-o … -on-ubuntu (comes in handy if u have to install imagemagick)

As far as an editor goes. Eclipse with the RDT plugin works great for me. You could also try radrails or netbeans(development version) with the ruby plugin.

During my windows period - I used JEdit with the plugins and it works very well big_smile

Now that I'm Linux based I think I shall go back to JEdit and resurrect that smile

Re: Rails on Ubuntu

For Windows development, check out the e text editor. It is pretty stable and looks and acts just like Textmate. It even reads and uses Textmate bundles.
