Topic: nginx as a proxy/load balancer for mongrel_cluster in fromt of apache

Hello,

I am trying to find more info on using nginx as a proxy/load balancer together with mongrel_cluster and apache1.3 (I know I could use 2.2 but it is a cPanel server, so need to stick with 1.3 for now).  I have been using pound as the proxy but I have been told that nginx will do it better, use less memory and it will also handle the static stuff that mongrel is not so good at.

Will nginx really be much better than pound for this?

Hasn't mongrel gotten better at handling static stuff?

Anyone know of any how-to that covers the configuration in nginx (pound has a much simpler config, but then again it is not a server)?

Thanks.

http://docs.planetargon.com/wiki/show/Setup+Nginx

Planet Argon is one of the first Rails hosts to really start playing with Nginx.  Check out their wiki and send them an email or two.  They're friendly folks and they've got more experience with this than most.

Thanks, I think that URL has a good starting point for me, great. Slim pickings on info for nginx, should get better as it becomes more popular.
