Topic: How do I create a basic album photo gallery using ruby on rails?

Can someone please help me. I need help creating an album photo gallery.

It basically contains thumbnails to each album which link to a list of all of the photos inside the album and each thumbnail of the photo links to a full size photo. That's it isn't much but I'm stuck.

Here are pictures of how it should look.

Re: How do I create a basic album photo gallery using ruby on rails?

Hi,

I'm a complete beginner and I'm doing something similar (only not a photo gallery). I have a folder inside my application's 'public/images' folder called 'illustrations' and I would like to be able to upload images (GIF, JPG, PNG) from a user's desktop to this folder and then be able to display these together with a description. I've created a model with the following attributes: 'name:string', 'description:text' and 'imagelink:string'. I'm using Simply rails 2 as a reference book and it doesn't describe how to upload and display images. Is there a good tutorial somewhere that shows how to do this?

One particular thing I'm wondering about is whether I should rename 'imagelink' to 'image_url', is this a convention in RoR, to name paths/links to assets 'something_url'? (Sorry if this is a stupid question.)

Regards Kris.

Edit: Nvm, I found a solution. Paperclip ftw!
