Topic: rails_upgrade gives segmentation fault errors with ruby-debug

I'm upgrading a Rails 1.2.3 (!) application to Rails 3.1.0. I've gotten it to work fairly well in Rails 2.3.11 with Ruby 1.8.7, and now I'm trying to jump to 3.1.0 and 1.9.2. Unfortunately, any time I try to call the rails_upgrade plugin, I get something like this:

asher$ rake rails:upgrade:check
/Users/asher/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.2-p290@rails3/gems/ruby-debug-base19-0.11.25/lib/ruby_debug.bundle: [BUG] Segmentation fault
ruby 1.8.7 (2011-06-30 patchlevel 352) [i686-darwin10.8.0]

Abort trap

Note the = ruby 1.8.7 = in the listing, and that it's failing in the ruby-debug gem. And yet:

asher$ ruby --version
ruby 1.9.2p290 (2011-07-09 revision 32553) [x86_64-darwin10.8.0]

If I uninstall enough parts of ruby-debug, it works. Anybody have any idea what's going on?

Incidentally, putting quotation marks in the subject or body of the post appears to break the board software. WTF?
