Topic: Rails 3 and google

Hello,

In my app, i have some pages that i don't want to be googled, i would like to know if someone know how i can do this? Does i need to create a meta on each pages and select which one i want to show?

thanks for your help.

Re: Rails 3 and google

There a number of ways to do this,  but it doesn't have to be in the rails app.  You could do it at the Apache  layer for instance.

Re: Rails 3 and google

hmm, ok the link you post is for private page, my page are public, but i don't want to be indexed in search engine, and i don't have access to apache setup.

thanks

Re: Rails 3 and google

thanks BradHodges, i have tried robots.txt with a Disallow: / and google continue to show the results.

User-Agent: *
Disallow: /compagnies/
Disallow: /floors/
Disallow: /spaces/
Disallow: /buildings/
Disallow: /users/
Disallow: /

companies, floors, etc are routes not physycal directory, does it can create error and let's the search engin continue the indexation?

if a use a robots.txt tester in the web, i get no error.

i put the file in myrailsapp/public

thanks again.
