Topic: [ask] the best IDE for Ruby On Rails

what do u think as the best IDE for Ruby On Rails code? Currently I use Netbeans for Ruby. It works well, but there's a drawback when using this IDE, it's too heavy.

I need lighther IDE. any suggestion?

Notes: The IDE should be free / open source. I don't want to buy IDE just for writing my Ruby On Rails code.

Thanks.

What dev platform?????

I used to use RadRails on Windows,  it was pretty good, free.  Then I changed to Mac,  and purchased TextMate for $55.

Best investment I ever made!

Tell me what platform you are developing on and I'll go into more detail

I use Rubymine and think it's great.  Has great editing tools and great integrated debugging.

I am using Aptana as an IDE... It is free and based on Eclipse interface. You can uae it as an Eclipse plugin or standalone  program.

Re: [ask] the best IDE for Ruby On Rails

I used Textmate but switched to Sublime Text 2

It handles a bunch of plugins and also bundles from Textmate. Its a very good IDE
