Topic: Rails Logging

Hi guys,

I've been tearing my hair out trying to figure out how to get Rails to log nicely.

I've made a blank new Rails 3.2.6 application and I can't seem to stop it from buffering the logs.

I'm writing a reports application, the requests tend to take a while to complete, so I need real time logging to figure out how it is progressing.

Unfortunately, Rails seems to be buffering all the logs and only printing them out at the end of the request. I'm nearly resorting to using

To answer my own question, I came across this excellent gem:

This has proper auto_flushing for STDOUT and works like a charm. Highly recommend it.
