Topic: rake db:migrate throwing error and active record connection not establ

rake db:migrate is showing an error which is show in the image attached and the activerecord connection not established..and the database yaml file is also attached

From what directory did you run the command 'rake db:migrate? You should navigate to your RoR application directory in the terminal/console.

i did from the application directory..i think mysql is not connected with rails

Just try to connect to your DB from the terminal, out of your app directory:

mysql -u your_user_name -h your_host -p your_password

Put the same values as in your database.yml file.

I have dropped the hope of installing it in windows.I am now trying to install in ubuntu..Can u suggest a good and latest step by step guide on installing it

Hey, Karthick, I've written a post Install Ruby on Rails in Ubuntu for Ubuntu 12.04 but it should work fine with other versions too. Although, there's also an installer script to save time but it's not recommended if you're just starting out!
