Topic: Basic Newbie Question re CSS

Where do the CSS styles for a file come from?

I would like to change the BG color, and would like to know where to go to get the CSS file. (I use Firebug to see the CSS stylesheet.)

Thank you.

Re: Basic Newbie Question re CSS

Every Rails project has a public folder, and inside that you will see a folder for stylesheets

If you have created any scaffolds you will see that Rails has generated scaffold.css, but you can use whatever css file you want.

Just call it in your layout like so:

<%= stylesheet_link_tag 'stylesheet_filename' %>

Notice how you don't put a .css extension on that, it's just Rails way of simplifying the link.

Re: Basic Newbie Question re CSS

Look in the source of the page (right click, then 'view page source').  Near the top there should be a line like this:
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style/RailsForum.css" />

the 'href' part is where you can find the stylesheet :-)

Yarg - that's a much better answer - and faster too!
