Topic: Subversion tips

Anyone have any subversion tips for deployment, and even development?

Does anyone know how to setup subversion so that everytime you commit, you could see the 'bleeding edge' of the application online?

Re: Subversion tips

I have a subversion server at my hosting company which is a slave that I svnsync to from my development repository.  To bring my production server up to date, I run svnsync from my development machine, then login to the administrative portion of my product, click a button, and it does a 'live update', which does an svn up, runs migrations as necessary, and does killall fastcgi.  It works pretty darn slick, if I do say so myself.

You can do this with a post-commit hook. See the FAQ.

Wow for some reason I don't understand that at all, maybe I'm just tired - I'll take another look at it.
