Topic: New RORer! Going to production scares me!

I am learning ROR and I am used to php where you just move a directory over and you semi didn't worry about it.  Apache magically took care of the rest.  But as I read the Deployment chapter in "Agile Web Development with Rails" there seems to be a lot more to think about.  How do you decide how many mongrel clusters you need?  Am I being too much of a noob? Thanks for the help.

Re: New RORer! Going to production scares me!

The number of clusters really depends on the amount of memory available. As Ryan said to be the other day, if your just running on a VPS 2 is about right, otherwise you could go upto 4.

You should also take a look at Litespeed, which is a lot easier to deploy a Rails application on. It can also handle PHP or proxy to Apache (if you still need it).

Kind regards,
