Topic: client wants a crm/ HRish system

how much should i charge? some threw numbers like 20 grand?! on #rubyonrails mb they were joking

a local body shop owner needs to manage his clients, the work process, and determining payroll for his workers.

how much would stuff like this normally cost ?

Re: client wants a crm/ HRish system

It would normally cost bucketloads. Having done something like this recently, I can tell you that 20K seems low. Homebrew CRM is difficult and a slippery slope for the developer. I don't know how payroll fits with CRM, but legal and taxation entities being what they are, that too will take a good deal of time to hash out.

Look at your off the shelf competitors like Salesforce in the CRM domain.

Advice: Bill hourly.

Please feel free to profit from our pain smile and download the opensource version here:

we'd love to get some more coders on board and will have a hosted version that will be a revenue share plan with developers and designers running their clients on our system.

you can get a beta account now by going to http://yourdomainname.xlsuite.com and try out what we have so far.  All comments and contributions are welcome.
