Topic: Rails Forum: The First Year
So, Peter Cooper's great blog Ruby Inside, turned one year old today, and that reminded me: this past week marked Rails Forum's one year anniversary as well!
Vinnie, Kelli, and I set up the forum on May 10th, 2006 and spent a couple of weeks skinning it and getting everything set up properly. Our first few outside members joined on May 23, 2006 (mostly people we knew who followed out signature links from SitePoint).
Since then we have grown -- a lot!
We now have over 4,000 members and over 24,000 posts, making Rails Forum the largest on the web dedicated to Ruby on Rails (at least, not counting those that act as gateways to the official RoR mailing lists ).
In our first year, Rails Forum has served over 1 million page views, and is getting about 45,000 visits per month (over 150,000 page views each month, now!). According to Alexa, we've consistently cracked the top 50,000 sites in the world (and been into the top 25,000).
These stats are really mind blowing to us. And I really want to thank all of the members who continue to make this place rock!
Very special thanks to our great moderators ryanb and danger (who joined on June 14th and 15th of last year, respectively) whose tireless work keeping this place free of spam and answering questions has really helped make Rails Forum great. We wouldn't be here without you guys!
Here's to another great year!
