Topic: [ann] Open source gateway connecting Rails with Flex or Flash clients

Hey guys,

I was not sure what the policy is for posting announcements.. The 'general' section seemed like the post appropriate place. I just wanted to let you know we released an open source product enabling developers to connect Flex or Flash clients with Ruby classes deployed in Rails applications. The product is designed to be a Rails plugin and can automatically expose any Ruby class as a remote service accessible by Flex or Flash

You can get more information including download and 'getting started' guide at:

Cheers,
Mark

Why would I want to use this? Sorry for sounding dumb.

Re: [ann] Open source gateway connecting Rails with Flex or Flash clients

I could see how this could be useful if you have a rails site and want to use flash to advertise the latest products but need to access the back-end for the information (price, etc.). Or maybe you want to use Rails for part of the site and Flex for another part (say the cart system). Hmm... not something I would want to do, but hey.

This guy seems to be planning to use something like this for a flash MP3 player that draws on a Rails backend...
