Topic: Instant rails - PHPMyAdmin - root / user

I've been following this tutorial

It mentions MySQL-Front as a database manager, but my version of Instant Rails already contains PHPMyAdmin. I click on the IR icon -> configure -> database(via PHPMyAdmin).

#1045 - Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: NO)

(and some other message in my native language, generally "check username and password")

I modified following lines in file

$cfg['Servers'][1]['controluser'] = 'root';
$cfg['Servers'][1]['user'] = 'root'; substituting "root" with my WindowsXP username.

I logged in, but essential functionality (create database) is disabled.

I have no idea what to do and any help will be appreciated.

Do you have a password set for mysql access?

Actually I don't know.

I use default settings of InstantRails 1.7, and this was the first time I tried to do something (follow the tutorial).
