Topic: Where to find RoR scripts?

Hi,

I am a newbie to RoR who's looking to build  a website similar to Jobster, I was wondering if there were scripts out there I could have a look at?
Where is a good place for RoR scripts?

Re: Where to find RoR scripts?

To get an introduction to Rails, I highly recommend Agile Web Development (it's pretty much the definitive book), even though Rails 2.0 is coming out soon, deprecating much of the specifics (hey, that's technology). I also recommend you take a look at Railscasts ( http://www.railscasts.com/ ), it's an excellent screencast series produced by Ryan Bates (who frequents this forum) giving numerous tips and tricks.

If you want to look specifically at some source code...go to rubyforge.  That will also get you familiar with the ruby language that Rails is based.

http://wiki.rubyonrails.org/rails/pages … ceProjects

there is a list of some open source projects with rails.  You can look at their source code too.

Hope that helps!

manitoba98 gave some good advice...I would go get the free sitepoint book too!

http://www.sitepoint.com/books/rails1/freebook.php

Its a great book! I learned a TON from that book.
