Topic: HTTP Posts

I'm new to Ruby, Ruby on Rails and web development in general.  I've never done socket programming before.  I am trying to create a method to send an http request to a server.  At the same time, I will need to be able to accept http posts from other clients.  I have found examples of posting code on: … HTTP.html; however, I'm not sure how to accept http posts.  In addition, what controls how data is written to the client?

Are there any concrete examples of this?  Can anyone tell me where to start?  Thanks.

Re: HTTP Posts

You are talking about REST services here ... searching for Rails and REST should bring up tons of resources. Most of this is built in to Rails already.

Your controllers can already accept HTTP Posts ... your action methods basically receive incoming GET/POSTS on that url.
