Topic: Execute PHP script in background

Hey guys,

I have noticed threads on how to execute a PHP script by using

system('php script.php')

but this will wait till the script is finished.  The PHP script takes ages and want it to run in background something equivalent in PHP is this:

$command = "php ".$scripts_location."/import.php";
exec( "$command > /dev/null &", $arrOutput );

How can I go about doing this ?

Re: Execute PHP script in background

hmm maybe do it with rails_cron or backgroundrb ?

Re: Execute PHP script in background

Ye i looked into backgroundrb , but thought there might be a simple ruby function like PHP to just run the script.  Guess ill have to use backgroundrb.

Thanks anyway
