Topic: Learning computer science fundamentals through rails...

I am trying to make the leap to rails, i have agile web development 2nd addition due to some recommendations as well.  I am looking for resources that will not only teach ruby on rails but also teach computer science and programming fundamentals along side it.  if there are no resources that are known for that purpose could i have some suggestions of where to step back to?  i am knowledgeable in html, css, javascript, and php/mysql.  thanks for any responses!!!

Hmm all the Ruby/Rails stuff I've seen seems to assume some basic computer science/familiarity with different languages/etc. But I'm sure you could just ask the more general question of what are some good computer science fundamental books... it shoudln't really matter what language, if any, a book uses to teach those things... that said I don't have any great recommendations, sorry... haha

the publishers of AWDwR have a catalog that reaches out to developers of varying skill levels.. for beginners, they've published one called 'learn to program'. you can view it in its pre-published, short form at http://pine.fm/LearnToProgram/, and if you decide you want it, you can cop the expanded version at your bookstore or at http://www.pragprog.com/titles/fr_ltp/learn-to-program.
