Topic: Looking for a book that puts it all together

I'm at a point in my rails journey where I can probably piece together any app I can think of.  The problem is I have only a basic understanding of CSS and Javascript.  I have enough to basically take and manipulate chunks of code I find from other people, but my apps inveitably begin to look like a random mix of other peoples' ideas jumbled together.

So I'm looking for a book that takes CSS layout techniques and Javascript and relates them all to rails.

I appreciate any recommendations you guys have.

A friend of mine run's this site: http://quackit.com/

He puts a lot of effort into it. There's lots of info there on CSS etc. I dunno about books on the subject (that sounds pretty dumb). I've been coding HTML for 10 years now and I just learned from online references and tutorial.

Re: Looking for a book that puts it all together

I've always found 'CSS - The Missing Manual' to be invaluable when trying to hack. As for design ideas, once you get a bit more comfortable with CSS try 'The Zen Of CSS Design', it's from the guys at http://www.csszengarden.com/

I'll leave JavaScript to someone else...
