Topic: Which Version To Install

Hi All,

On a few different Ruby site they have different versions, out of the 3 below which is the best version to install on Linux

ftp://ftp.ruby-lang.org/pub/ruby/ruby-1.8.5.tar.gz
ftp://ftp.ruby-lang.org/pub/ruby/ruby-1.8.5-p2.tar.gz
ftp://ftp.ruby-lang.org/pub/ruby/ruby-1.8.5-p12.tar.gz

Cheers,
Tom

Re: Which Version To Install

On the Ruby download page it recommends ruby-1.8.5-p12. I honestly don't know the difference between the versions, but I don't think you can go wrong with their recommendation.

Re: Which Version To Install

afaik, the -p[digits] stands for the latest incorporated patches for that version, so you best could get the ruby version with the highest p number.
