Topic: Anybody else not able to get to the Rails API site?

Hey, just out of curiosity, can anyone else get to api.rubyonrails.org?

I get a "server is taking too long to respond" error in Firefox. Tried pinging it, and that times out too.

Just wanted to see if there server(s) is(are) down, or if it's just my ISP and maybe their routing tables are off or something. I was able to get to it less than an hour ago, so I assume their down for the count, but never hurts to ask right? wink

Re: Anybody else not able to get to the Rails API site?

Dunno, but a great api site for Rails is http://railsbrain.com, which of course comes with a sister site, http://rubybrain.com

You can even download the HTML to your computer and have it locally for when you are offline, works great in Fluid App if you have a Mac.

The Fliud App is a great idea - RailsBrain is one of my must-have bookmarks in FireFox. I didn't even know about RubyBrain. I'll need to make room for it now.

api.rubyonrails.org is accessible. railsbrain.com is a bad idea, as you don't try to understand how the rails code is organized and which method belongs to which class/module.

What are you talking about. I go to RailsBrain and type in for instance, link_to, it comes up, and next to it you can plainly see: ActionView::Helpers::UrlHelper, seems pretty clear to me.

Re: Anybody else not able to get to the Rails API site?

I think it was a temporary hiccup, as it's obviously back up now... I could ping rubyonrails.org, but not api.rubyonrails.org.

Figuring because it was so late anyway (at least it was here;) ), I didn't see any point in making a fuss over it.

Re: Anybody else not able to get to the Rails API site?

Also, and I'm not positive about how up to date this is, as in if it updates when you update your gems, but you could also give this a shot!

gem server

You can then hit the local copy of the rails api at http://localhost:8808
